The Neighborhoods of the Urban Wine Trail
Funk Zone
The Funk Zone offers an eclectic mix of galleries, shops, restaurants, wineries, and breweries. Comprising approximately 10 blocks, adjacent to the ocean, train station, and downtown Santa Barbara, this vibrant neighborhood offers something for everyone. Converted warehouses, decked out with a range of colorful murals, serve as the perfect backdrop for this “happening” area.
Presidio
Located just steps off State Street, in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, the Presidio Neighborhood is home to a variety of premier wine tasting rooms, high-end restaurants, casual dining, and boutique shops. Centered around the historical site of the last of the Spanish fortresses (“presidios”), the Presidio Neighborhood offers the opportunity to explore the history of Santa Barbara, along with some of the area’s finest food and wine.
Midtown
Below the riviera between Anacapa St. and Milpas St. you will find Santa Barbara’s Midtown. As you walk down the “Haley Street Corridor” you will discover an industrial area with Santa Barbara’s best hidden gems including restaurants where the locals eat, great breweries, and fully functioning wineries where you can watch the winemakers in action. Eat like a local, see the wine barrels, taste the grapes, and experience the craft of the wine industry.
Downtown
Santa Barbara’s downtown is the historic and entertainment core of the city. Filled with world-class restaurants, lively clubs, magnificent theaters like the Arlington and Granada, this is a wonderful place to stroll and take in the sites. Naturally, the area is also home to excellent tasting rooms, offering some of the area’s best varietals. So whether you want to take in a scenic view from the historic Courthouse tower, or just relax with a flavorful glass of wine, a visit to downtown is a must.
